Report a Dunlin sighting
Colour Ring Sightings
Much of the value of colour ringing comes from re-sighting reports by birdwatchers and members of the public. We welcome all reports of the birds that we have colour-ringed to allow us to build up a life history of the movements of each bird. Repeat sightings at the same location are just as valuable as those from new or distant sites.
Dunlin ringed by the Devon and Cornwall Wader Ringing Group carry a red un-coded ring above the metal ring on the right leg, below the knee and a blue coded ring on the left leg, below the knee. The code is a combination of two letters or numbers read upwards.
Please use the form on the right to let us know when and where you have seen one of these birds. We will respond as soon as possible, usually within a week, with details of where and when the bird was ringed.
For Dunlin wearing rings of other colours or codes, please check the International Wader Study Group register or the European Colour-ring Birding website to locate the project contact or submit your sighting through the EURING website.
